• Stuffing
• 125g dried lentils
• Small polythene bag
• Size: Height; 19cm

Body and head

Make two
Using 4mm needles and Calm Cream, cast on 40 sts
Rows 1-2: starting with a k row work in st st
Rows 3-26: starting with a k row work Chart (p64) in st st. 38 sts Cont in Calm Cream only
Row 27: ssk, k to last two sts, k2tog. 36 sts
Row 28: p Change to Petal Pink
Rows 29-46: starting with a k row work in st st

Row 47: k3, (sl 2, k1, p2sso, k6) three times, sl 2, k1, p2sso, k3. 28 sts
Row 48: p
Row 49: k2, (sl 2, k1, p2sso, k4) three times, sl 2, k1, p2sso, k2. 20 sts

Wing

Make two
Using 4mm needles and Spring Lilac, cast on nine sts
Rows 1-16: k1, *p1, k1, rep from * to end
Row 17: p2tog tbl, k1, (p1, k1) twice, p2tog. Seven sts
Row 18: p1, *k1, p1, rep from * to end
Row 19: k2tog, p1, k1, p1, ssk. Five sts

Using 4mm needles and Buttercup Yellow, cast on four sts

Rows 5-8: rep Rows 3-4 twice. 12 sts
Row 9: k1, ssk, k to last three sts, k2tog, k1. Ten sts
Row 10: p
Row 11-12: rep Rows 9-10. Eight sts
Row 13: k1, ssk, k2, k2tog, k1. Six sts
Row 14: p2tog, p2, p2tog. Four sts Cast off

To make up

Sew Body and Head side seams, leaving a gap in centre of one seam. Sew Base to Body. Insert safety eyes. Place lentils in polythene bag and knot tightly, insert into Body. Stuff Body. Sew gap closed. Fold Beak in half and sew to face, catching top and bottom parts tog at each side. Fold Feet in half and sew curved seams, stuffing lightly as you work. Sew Feet and Wings to Body. Weave in ends
